These guys are amazing. Their bio says the project is a collaboration between Corey Mathew Hart and Paul Mitch. The two apparently met during a songwriting competition held by a local radio station. I suppose these two songwriters were meant to be set up on a musical “blind date”, and that’s how it should be done right? Well, in my humble opinion, it couldn’t have worked out better for the two. And now as listeners, we have some amazing music to get into…so let’s dive in.
Lost Lakes – Give Up The Ghost
On “Give Up The Ghost” (which is the second single off a new album which will be released March 3, 2017) the sound production is stellar and everything I would ask for. Crisp, full, clean, and the mix is solid and I can hear everything. The music is beautiful and warm too! Influences sound like a range of pop, rock, folk, and country. Mature songwriting abounds with these extremely talented musicians. There is not much holding this song back from being a huge hit. The live video below proves their musicianship and gives me even more of a reason to support this awesome talent.
I could try and nitpick at some of the very minor mixing details, but it’s not necessary on this one. I would be trying too hard! It really appears that the stars and heavens (or whatever you believe) were lined up when these two songwriters met. The future is their playground. Great songwriters are few and far between, and it sounds as if a pair of musical soulmates have found each other.
If you like feeling good when listening to music then look no further, for now. Lost Lakes is a group that is just beginning and it’s going to be exciting to see where their talent takes them. I, for one, will be watching and listening! I highly encourage you to follow Lost Lakes, and let us know what you think by using the hashtag #IndieMusicLIVE.
