Oakman – Featured Artist

Oakman - Featured ArtistOakman is a band that is tearing up France, the UK, and many more far away lands that I will probably never get to visit. Seriously though, if you are into intense alt rock that is a little different than you are reading the right article. Oakman submitted their music a few months back and it was an easy pick to invite them to be a featured artist.

Oakman – Featured Artist

Lead singer/guitarist Marine braved the late night/early morning hours in France to attend Indie Music LIVE! 144 for her live video interview and first US interview! In fact, when the show started at 10PM ET it was literally 4AM her time! What a trooper! Marine has a pair of brothers behind her on bass and guitar, Geremia and Jesse Gayaud. We didn’t get to speak with them but as a trio this band is super tight!

We’ve had artist interviews from all over the world now, but Oakman is our first band from France. Marine says they hope to tour the US but have not quite made it yet…perhaps they will soon with their new exposure! They have enjoyed extensive touring already in UK and Japan and other places in Europe. Their new single “Clear Enough” is about finding the courage to clear different obstacles in life.

Is the music of Oakman super original? Well, not exactly, and there’s definitely a Paramore flavor here. BUT they are excellent at what they are doing and they set themselves apart enough to stand on their own. They are making high quality music and videos as well so they are working hard and “paying their dues” all over the place. The band just released a new EP called Plastic World.

In the interview with Dave he asks if Marine sings in English all the time. Marine said it was natural for her to sing in English mainly due to the fact that she grew up listening to English music and learning the language. I’ve got to say it’s hard to tell because she doesn’t sing with an accent hardly at all! Check them out!

We want to know what YOU think about the music of Oakman. Get in touch on social media and let us know what you think! Also, make sure to get in touch with the band and let them know you heard their music here first on Indie Music Plus! As always, thank you for reading and continuing to support indie music from ALL OVER THE GLOBE!
