Rainy Day Crush – Featured Artist

Rainy Day Crush - Featured ArtistRainy Day Crush has been on our fine website a few times now. With a new release hot off the presses so to speak, I figured it was time we give this band the recognition they deserve and have them as a featured artist. Find other articles on them here and here. We were recently joined by Matt and Mike on Indie Music LIVE! and I must say, these dudes are cool!

Rainy Day Crush – Featured Artist

The band has been around for about 20 years total and the only original member is Matt Specht. The band has definitely been through some changes over the years which recently includes them losing their last vocalist. But as always, they keep on truckin’. I think the band’s music has always been great. It’s fun, intelligent (musically) and truly reaches the band’s goal of crushing rainy days.

For years the band had female vocals until an abrupt departure of their latest singer. Well, instead of giving up or moping around they decided to make a run at it as a 3-piece. Almost by accident, this may end up being their best lineup and cause the band to explodify. Matt has stepped up to the plate and taken over the lead vocals and I think it’s one of their best moves yet.

In the video above Matt perfectly describes their music as “Too honest to be pop and a little too much fun to be indie.” I encourage you to check out the Deeper with Dave segment in the video and get a feel for the guys in the band. They were a pleasure to hang out with and we’ve even booked them back as panel guests on the show in the near future. In fact, they’re so much fun that Dave had to actually tell Matt “No jokes, this is serious man.” He was asking the question, “Why have you been doing this for 20 years, what keeps you going?” Matt’s answer is intriguing yet heartfelt.

I’m curious to see what YOU think of Rainy Day Crush. Get in touch with them on social media and let them know that you heard their music first here on Indie Music Plus. As always, thank you for reading and continuing to support indie music of all genres!!
