State of Nature – Fighters – Review

State of NatureState of Nature is a band from Jersey City, NJ. There is something about the east coast alt rock sound that is being produced these days, and State of Nature (SON) is fitting right in with their clean and authentic sound. The band is young, hungry and ready to rock.

State of Nature – Fighters

In their bio the band reveals its history goes back farther than the band itself. When in 8th grade Andrew and Will were friends, and as they grew up so did their music. By the time College came around the band was playing 90’s nostalgia, contemporary pop intelligence and soaring/virtuoso lead guitar work and before they knew it they were scouring Craigslist for a drummer. Not any drummer, but one that would fit them. After patiently looking for longer than they’d like, they came across Nate and their band was complete.

SON is making some great music but just not enough. I don’t see any albums released but only a few singles. Their website is ok but there is left to be desired. The music though is spot on! These guys really sound great together. On the single “Fighters” hands down my favorite parts are when they have the bendy guitars that go with the vocal line. It’s that perfect beach rock sound that I love. The band isn’t all beach though, they rock out too.

The chorus is a great example of their powerful vocals and hooks. Looking for a three chord song to enjoy? Move on. This one probably has more creative musicianship than you can handle. I also took a peek at a few other tunes and they stand up to “Fighters” and you should check them out too. If you’re in the New Jersey/New York area keep your eyes peeled for live performances by SON.
