TJ Leonard – Road Trip – Review

TJ LeonardTJ Leonard is a country music artist out of Sweden. Yes, you read that correctly, a country artist from Sweden. Honestly, I didn’t have a clue that country music is big in Sweden. Apparently, it’s a thing. Leonard’s new single “Road Trip” sounds like it was written in the deep south USA, so let’s break it down…

TJ Leonard – Road Trip

Within 2 seconds of the song starting, I was hooked. From the fiddle to the slide guitar, this song has all the makings of a great country song. I was surely scratching my head that this artist is from Sweden and he’s talking about driving up through Georgia to Nashville, TN. You know, making a quick road trip!

Probably my favorite part about this tune is the fact that it’s more rock than country. I’m a huge fan of southern rock and this song borderlines on that sound as well. Sometimes it sounds more like a classic rock song from the ’70s at times, rather than a newly written country rock tune and that’s ok. Seriously though, crossover is a good thing. I think that TJ’s style in this song will win him fans of multiple genres within this realm.

As you can see the lyric video above is not the most exciting thing in the world, but I have to say I really love the graphics. Also, the lyrics are pretty cool. I’m normally not a lyric guy but “we’re on a road trip 4X4 spaceship” is pretty catchy and creative. Perhaps TJ spent some time in the southern US with all the mentions by a Swedish country artist, or maybe it’s just a perception of what he imagined. I just can’t get over that lol sorry! I mean, I do realize that Sweden has some of the best musicians in the world and I’ve heard all types of bands of all genres come out of that country. I like most of the submissions I hear from Sweden and TJ Leonard is no exception!

I’m curious to find out what YOU think about TJ Leonard and his tune “Roadtrip.” Get in touch with him on social media and let him know what you think and that you heard it here on Indie Music Plus first!
