Molino - Second Life - Review

Molino is an interesting sound group from multiple places. In their bio, it’s stated that they make “futuristic music from a bygone era, carefully created by musical adventurers from New Zealand, Germany, Holland, and Iceland. Wherever they are from they’re making truly unique and interesting music. Their latest release “Lo And Behold” has just been released. I’m going to talk about their song “Second Life.”

Molino

One of the first things I noticed on the first listen is the smoothness. Their sound is just so smooth. Just listening to this one track makes me want to listen to more. In the song “Second Life” I can hear many different influences. Pop, groove, and jazz are a few genres that come to my mind first if I had to explain their sound quickly. But, it definitely goes way deeper than that. The musicianship here is off the hook.

The chord changes make for an exciting ride if you’re the musician type but also for the nonmusician. Both will bob their heads in appreciation all the same. Also, the flute line added in later adds so much to the sound! When I looked at their website it looks like they play live quite a bit as a full band and have horns too! Saxophone, Trombone, and Clarinet are in the lineup. What an interesting and creative project! I’m hooked!

Molino is a DEFINITE “must check out” by me. So, next time you’re skipping through your iTunes, Spotify, or whatever else you use, look for Molino. Their new release “Lo And Behold” is bound to catch some waves!
